Our First Physical Store
Our store is open daily, offering sealed products from Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Star Wars, Dragon Ball Z, One Piece, Digimon, and Lorcana. Browse our constantly updated Pokémon singles, grab some snacks and drinks, and join events like monthly Trade Days, weekly Saturday Pokémon casual play, and Magic Commander sessions every Wednesday and Sunday.
Monthly Trade Days
Our monthly Trade Days kick off at 11am on the first Saturday of every month—a lively gathering for Pokémon collectors, Magic players, and other emerging TCG communities. Expect exciting giveaways, awesome prizes, tasty food and drinks, and stay for the in-store afterparty!
Magic Commander Nights
Magic Nights run every Wednesday and Sunday, creating a relaxed space for Magic: The Gathering players to enjoy Commander and other formats like Standard and Modern. Meals are available before the games begin, along with snacks and drinks throughout the evening.
Pokémon Saturdays
Every Saturday, our store hosts casual Pokémon TCG play, welcoming players of all skill levels. It’s a laid-back environment to battle, trade, and connect with other trainers. Sharpen your skills, meet new friends, and grow your collection.
Rip 'n Ship Live Streams
Our Rip ’n Ship events bring the excitement of live pack openings to our community. Dates are announced in our WhatsApp group, where you can also book your packs. Highlights from past events are available on our YouTube channel.
Claim Sales
Our Claim Sales take place in our WhatsApp group, usually on Thursday evenings. We post cards one by one with prices, and the first person to comment "claim" gets it. These sales often feature some of our best Pokémon singles. Join our WhatApp group to stay updated about the next sale.
GengarTCG Mobile App
GengarTCG is our very own trading card app and the first of its kind in South Africa. It lets you track your Pokémon collection, create custom lists, and view real-time card prices in rands or dollars. With advanced search tools and set completion tracking to manage your collection.
The Founders
Shane, a longtime collector and player, teamed up with Courtney and Stefan to build a store and community focused on trading card games. Together, they combined their passion, skills, and vision to create a space where collectors and players feel at home.
Our Humble Beginnings
Gengar Games started with just a handful of people, a simple idea, and a lot of passion. On our first night in October of 2022, we sat together creating the logo that would become the face of our journey. Our early Rip ’n Ship events had only a few buyers, and our first Trade Day featured just one booster box with a few packs sold. To grow, we set up a small stand at night markets with barely any stock, slowly building a name in the community. Looking back at those early photos, it’s a reminder of how far we’ve come and how much every step of the journey mattered.
